When nature takes its toll - winds howl, fires ravish, rains swell rivers and streams - the Northern Utah Chapter will be there to help.
Our Northern Utah Chapter maintains 4 Disaster Action Teams available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to disasters. Each year, we assist victims of more than 50 home fires and other disasters.
Red Cross disaster relief focuses on meeting people's immediate emergency disaster-caused needs. When a disaster threatens or strikes, the Red Cross provides shelter, food, and health and mental health services to address basic human needs. In addition to these services, the Red Cross disaster relief assistance is given to individuals and families affected by disaster to enable them to resume their normal daily activities.
The Red Cross works the year round with city, county and state emergency management agencies to facilitate disaster preparedness and planning. Ongoing efforts continue to recruit and train volunteers, and secure resources for shelter, communications and supplies.
All Red Cross assistance is given free of charge, made possible by the generous contribution of people's time, money, and skills.

There are four gifts available: three types of candy and a special "United We Stand" t-shirt. The cost of each gift is $25, which includes postage and handling. Gifts can be mailed to particular soldiers or can be delivered to at-large personnel in countries such as Diego Garcia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Kosovo and Bosnia.
You may also call the toll free number 800-565-4651 to place an order.
In serving the United States military, our troops must endure many difficult things. Separation from family and friends during the holidays can be particularly tough. The gifts available at www.4troops.com, are intended to brighten spirits and boost morale - a way to show American military personnel that you care and support their efforts.
Net proceeds of about $10 for each gift will benefit the Armed Forces Emergency Services (AFES) program of the American Red Cross. While the Red Cross is mandated by Congress to serve as a liaison between U.S. families and their loved ones in the military, the organization does not receive any government financial assistance. AFES service include relaying emergency messages 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as well as offering one-on-one counseling, financial support and other assistance to military families.

Our local Red Cross volunteer and paid staff often serve on relief operations for major national disasters. This improves their training and skills, and assures that Red Cross workers will be available to our community should a major disaster occur here.
Red Cross volunteers feed disaster victims and emergency workers, handle inquiries from concerned family members outside the disaster area, provides blood and blood products, and helps those affected by disaster to access other available resources.
